陰道鬆弛讓許多婦女為之苦惱卻又不好意思開口求助，女性朋友常擔心生小孩會導致陰道鬆弛，影響夫妻間性生活的樂趣。但陰道鬆弛不見得只會發生在自然生產的情況下，整形外科李久恆醫師表示，有些婦女是因為天生體質關係，陰道壁彈性較不佳，但陰道的彈性或鬆弛程度實屬個人主觀的感覺，並沒有一定的標準。由於自然生產時，胎兒通過產道，的確是會對陰道的彈性造成影響。陰道壁是由肌肉、韌帶及隔膜所組成，受到擠壓或拉扯時，會出現鬆弛的現象，就像橡皮筋一般，受到強力的拉扯也會失去彈性，因此，一般所談的陰道鬆弛就是陰道壁失去彈性。
陰道就如同人其他部位的肌肉及皮膚一般，隨著年齡的增長同樣都會漸漸變得鬆垮，但是有運動習慣的人，其陰道也可能會比沒有運動習慣的人來的更加緊實。除了最簡易的凱格爾運動法可幫助訓練陰道肌肉之外，陰道鬆弛一般都是採用傳統的陰道整形手術，手術需將鬆弛的陰道組織切除，再縫緊陰道黏膜下的結締組織，達到陰道口緊縮的效果。但是只把陰道口縫緊，如果縫的太緊，可能導致陰道口角度改變，使得男性生殖器進入困難，而且需半身麻醉，也會產生疤痕，恢復期更長達6週～3個月。
隨著醫學科技的進步，現在透過新的治療方式，更可在短時間內就恢復陰道緊實。李久恆醫師表示，「美式陰道緊實術」是以自體脂肪注射的方式，採局部麻醉進行，抽取自體大腿外側的脂肪、結締組織約60CC，太瘦的婦女可從肚子或其他有脂肪的部位抽取。再運用注射的特殊技巧，藉由擠壓方式植入陰道壁的兩側，來達到緊實柔軟與彈性的效果，注射後出現些微腫脹感但不影響生活作息。不直接注射脂肪到陰道壁，理由是因為陰道壁是個易發炎部位，注射在陰道附近的大陰唇，再擠去陰道內壁的作法，可減少感染情形。因為是自體組織所以不會有排斥的問題，術前不需除毛，透過注射，傷口僅針孔大小，同時不留疤痕，也不會影響陰道口角度，術後恢復期快速。
李久恆醫師進一步表示，美式陰道緊實術約需30分鐘，會先注射麻醉藥劑，因此，治療過程不會有任何疼痛，術後麻醉藥劑消退，會出現些許的腫脹感。術後可隨即進行一般日常生活，但仍需遵照醫師囑咐，3天內冰敷陰道口，3天後改採溫熱敷，由於傷口小恢復期較短，只要術後的腫脹消除，約一週後即可行房。自體脂肪移植的手術可重複進行。不過醫師不諱言，雖然治療效果不錯，但由於是利用自體脂肪移植，約有3～4成會被人體組織所吸收，若想要一直維持陰道緊實度，可能要視個人情形，每兩年重複進行注射。
